Bulkhead Plating
Renewal Underway
Our team is currently progressing the removal and replacement of worn port and starboard wing-tank bulkhead plating within a vessel’s cargo hold—an operation requiring careful control of the vessel’s structural integrity throughout every stage.
Before any existing plating could be removed, eight substantial transverse beams were installed at main-deck level and fully welded at both ends. Two large support frames were then fabricated on the quayside, installed inside the cargo hold and secured to the wing-tank sides.
With the temporary support system in place, the controlled steel-renewal sequence could begin:
- Remove the existing plating between the support frames
- Install and fully weld the new bulkhead plating
- Remove and reposition the temporary support frames
- Repeat the process through each planned work area
The work is continuing progressively through the cargo hold, allowing each section to be renewed while structural stability is maintained throughout the operation.
Strong progress so far on a technically demanding marine steelwork project—combining careful planning, practical engineering, skilled fabrication and disciplined execution.
More updates to follow as the project advances.
