This connection allows ships to shut down their onboard generators while docked, reducing fuel consumption and emissions.

Recently, EAPL Southampton was called to inspect the CMS after reports that its batteries were no longer holding a charge. This issue prevented the system from being moved into position alongside a vessel.

Upon arrival, EAPL engineers tested the batteries, quickly identified the fault, and carried out the necessary repairs. After charging the batteries overnight, the CMS was fully operational the next day, just in time for an incoming cruise ship to dock without delay.

Thanks to EAPL’s swift response and technical expertise, unnecessary costs were avoided, and the environmental benefits of shore-side power were maintained.
