Steel Fender Bar Replacement
Completed in Hull Dry Dock

EAPL was contracted to provide platers and welders for dry dock repairs in Hull, involving the replacement of worn steel fender bars located on the aft port and starboard sections, as well as around the stern of a tug vessel.

The existing steel fender bars were carefully removed by cutting them away from the sheer strake. Following removal, the surrounding areas were prepared using angle grinders to clean and dress the steel surfaces ready for installation of the new components.

To ensure accurate fabrication, the EAPL team produced wooden templates matching the contours around the stern and marked the exact positions for the replacement fender bars. Using these templates, new steel fender bars were manufactured complete with pre-drilled holes for the rubber fender retaining pins.

Once fabrication was completed, the new fender bars were transported to the vessel, positioned in place, and fully welded to the sheer strake and shell plating, successfully completing the installation.
